The Barker Ryan Stewart March Charge teams have been full steam ahead with an amazing amount of kilometres trekked. The official stats so far are;
- Sydney – 950kms
- Central Coast – 593kms
- Hunter – 1,039kms
Our Barker Ryan Stewart champion so far is our Hunter office manager, Anthony, who has notched up an impressive 238kms.
We have had a few early risers who have captured some stunning beach sun rises, and even had the brave few who have ventured out in heavy rains to gain those kilometres!
The March Charge ambassadress and our leader in the cause, Heather Lee, has sent through some words of encouragement and advised that she has even recently broken one of her world records.
“My March Charge is progressing very well indeed and at lunchtime today I reached the 170 km mark with 80 km to the finish line. I expect to reach the total in a week’s time. I trust the team is putting their best feet forward as it’s such a great cause – Cancer is such a scourge and none of us know who will be the next victim. I have experienced first hand as a carer of my husband the devastation it causes to the whole family. Just keep walking, it’s the least we can do. All the walking did not affect my training today, breaking my own 5km World Record by over a minute!!. Regards, Heather”
All the practice Heather is gaining through March Charge will come in handy when she heads off to the Perth Master Games next month, where she hopes to break her existing 5km World Record and to break the existing 10km World Record held by a Romanian walker.
So far the teams have raised $2,680.52 and with only 2 weeks to go, our March Chargers could use all the encouragement they can get. You can support the teams by donating through their team pages; Sydney, Central Coast or Hunter.
Barker Ryan Stewart are hoping to keep the charge up and gain as many kilometres and donations that they can to support this worthy cause.
