Barker Ryan Stewart assisted Upper Hunter Shire Council with the provision of civil engineering and surveying services required for the design of 13 water main renewal and relocation projects within the Upper Hunter LGA.
The renewal project formed part of Council’s asset management strategy to replace regions of the existing water main network which were of mixed ages and material types.
The designs issued by Barker Ryan Stewart supported the construction of new water mains in several sections of the network in Murrurundi, Scone and Merriwa.
In most locations, the water mains were designed to be relocated from the carriageway to the road verge to preserve future road pavements and enable simpler access for maintenance. Detailed connection and appurtenance designs were prepared to aid constructability and to provide network interconnectivity and flexibility.
The full scope of services included:
- Detail survey of the sites,
- Preparation of concept plans detailing proposed alignments and perceived clashes with existing services and infrastructure,
- Detailed design for construction, and
- Preparation of Construction Cost Estimates.
