Barker Ryan Stewart was engaged by Maitland City Council for the provision of concept road design services associated with the proposed road upgrade works along Thornton Road.
The proposed road upgrade works include the duplication of lanes in each direction along Thornton Road from Railway Avenue to Glenwood Drive, as well as intersection upgrades at Huntingdale Drive / Thornton Road, Thornton Road / Glenwood Drive and Glenwood Drive / Weakleys Drive.
The works form part of Council’s long term strategy for the Thornton Road Network, and the new and upgraded infrastructure will help cater for the growing population in Thornton North and Chisholm. They will also provide Thornton with connectivity to the broader region through the Weakleys Drive interchange to the New England Highway, as well as access to the M1 Pacific Motorway.
The concept design issued by Barker Ryan Stewart will provide the necessary detail to understand the project requirements and develop costings to allow progress to the next phase of development.
