Lemon Tree Passage Roundabout, Tanilba Bay

Road Infrastructure and Transportation

Barker Ryan Stewart was engaged by Port Stephens Council to supply a detailed engineering design for the construction of a roundabout on Lemon Tree Passage Road at Tanilba Bay. The roundabout was required to be constructed at the intersections of Lemon Tree Passage Road, Avenue of the Allies, Poilus Parade and Success Street.

The challenge faced by Council was the geometric design and location of the roundabout annulus. The existing site actually consisted of 3 separate intersections within close proximity of one another, of which Council wanted to reduce to only two. Also constraining the site was the heritage Tanilba Bay gates which had to remain untouched.

With open and effective communication with Council, the design was developed by Barker Ryan Stewart to meet Council’s expectations, in accordance with industry standards, with minimal rework and it was delivered within the program’s deadlines.
