Barker Ryan Stewart was engaged by Byron Shire Council for the provision of civil engineering design and surveying services associated with the Bangalow Road Safer Roads Program (South).
The Safer Roads Program is a NSW Government initiative that aims to improve road infrastructure to help reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes on state roads. Within the Byron Bay region, the program will include the improvement of an 8km length of Bangalow Road between the Pacific Highway to Broken Head Road amongst other road improvements in the Shire.
A road safety review has been carried out along Bangalow Road to identify the existing road safety issues. These issues will be resolved with the implementation of a variety of safety improvements including pavement reconstruction, clearzone improvements, shoulder widening, road surface improvements, safety barriers and delineation. The design provided by Barker Ryan Stewart will allow for numerous safety improvements along the length of Bangalow Road taking into consideration the history of crash locations, the RMS recommendations for improvements, the existing formation and the funds allocated to the project. Pulver Cooper & Blackley also assisted with the infill detail survey of the site features.
