Situated on the former Schofields Aerodrome site, Akuna Vista will transform the area into a lively residential neighbourhood. The new community will offer residents both a tranquil bushland backdrop, and convenient access to local train stations, shops, and schools.
The development’s name is inspired by the adjoining Eastern Creek riverside, and comes from the Aboriginal word Akuna, meaning ‘the way forward’ or ‘flowing water’.
The development will include the subdivision of approximately 1,100 residential lots over several stages. It will involve the construction of some 200 homes for Defence members and their families, while the additional lots will be available to the public over a number of sales releases. It is also proposed that the development will include a new retail precinct, primary school, regional sporting hub, and recreation facilities.
Barker Ryan Stewart was engaged by Defence Housing Australia to provide certification services through the provision of now Subdivision Works Certificates for Stages 1-8 of the development.
