Ideally located in the heart of Penrith’s CBD, 131 Henry Street is an exciting commercial development by Penrith City Council set to revitalise the city’s centre.
The project proposes the redevelopment of the former Council Chambers into a new commercial building, to create a workplace of the future with activated public and retail spaces for the local community to enjoy.
Once complete, 131 Henry Street will strengthen Penrith’s role as an employment hub in Western Sydney by bringing employment opportunities closer to home.
The proposed development incorporates environmentally sustainable design best practices at its forefront to meet Council’s Cooling the City Strategy.
Barker Ryan Stewart assisted Penrith City Council with obtaining EnviroDevelopment Certification through the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) for the initial design of the project, with inclusions of numerous sustainable and environmental design best practices in the design, future build and fit out.
The proposed initial design of the development achieved 5 EnviroDevelopment ‘leaves’ for Ecosystems, Waste, Energy, Water and Community and may seek the sixth and final leaf for Materials in the future.
With our expertise as an EnviroDevelopment Professional, we worked closely alongside Council, the project team and UDIA to provide guidance and manage the EnviroDevelopment Certification application process for this unique and impressive development.
