Barker Ryan Stewart would like to congratulate all the participants involved in this year’s Evolution Charity Cup for helping to raise a massive $100k for the Mark Hughes Foundation to help tackle brain cancer.
The corporate tag-team style surfing competition was held at Dixon Park Beach in conjunction with this year’s Surfest. The event was run by the Mark Hughes Foundation to help raise money for brain cancer research, heighten awareness, and support brain cancer patients and their families.
The competition included 16-teams of four surfers from local Newcastle businesses. Our ‘BRS Wave Riders’ team was made up of Joe Myson, Ben Miller, Peter McCallum, and Nick Whitton.
The event provided a great opportunity for our team to compete against some pro-surfers, network with the other local businesses, and most importantly be part of the team effort of fundraising. With the help of our supporters, we were able to raise a total of $1,162.90 to go towards the Foundation.
We would like to congratulate Lake Macquarie City Council for winning the competition, and to Kentan Machinery for raising the most funds.
We would also like to thank everyone who donated to this worthy cause, as each donation goes a long way in helping to support those affected by brain cancer.
We are proud to be a supporter of the Mark Hughes Foundation and of all the other causes we support. You can find out more about these on our Making a Difference page.
