Barker Ryan Stewart provided civil engineering design services to assist Port Stephens Council with the full road reconstruction and widening of the Avenue of the Allies in Tanilba Bay.
The proposed works include the reconstruction and widening of a 900m section of the road, from Lemon Tree Passage Road Roundabout to King Albert Avenue. The road will be widened to 8 metres to allow two vehicles to safely pass one another and will include road shoulders and line marking.
The $1.4 million project forms part of the NSW Government’s $500 million Fixing Local Roads Program, with Council receiving funding from the NSW Government to help fund the project and improve the road infrastructure.
The design issued by Barker Ryan Stewart aimed to improve drainage run off and compliance, through the installation of roadside drainage channels that also act as infiltration basins to slow drainage run off and result in less flows within the downstream network.
The construction works for the Avenue of the Allies project are expected to be completed in December 2023, and are set to provide better road safety outcomes for the local community once complete.
