Barker Ryan Stewart is providing civil engineering design services to assist Port Macquarie Hastings Council with remediation works required for Comboyne Road in Comboyne.
Over the past two years, the NSW Mid North Coast has experienced devastating flooding events and record high rainfall, causing three embankment slips to occur on Comboyne Road within the Port Macquarie Hastings Council LGA.
The damage caused by several tonnes of soil slipped on Comboyne mountain has blocked vehicle access to Comboyne Road, leading to significant geotechnical investigation, analysis and emergency works to remediate the damage.
As part of the flood recovery, Council identified that the restoration of Comboyne Road will require complex retaining structures and is currently in the process of completing the civil and structural design of the sites, prior to completing the remediation works.
Barker Ryan Stewart has been engaged to complete the civil design of the road alignment including improved stormwater drainage recommendations and geotechnical stabilisation remediation measures. We are also providing estimation of costs for construction and assisting in constructability workshops to overcome the challenges of completing the works on difficult site locations and terrain.
Providing a key route between Wauchope and Comboyne, Comboyne Road is an important connection for the local community and economy. We are proud to assist Port Macquarie Hastings Council and help improve the road infrastructure and connectivity for the local community.
