BRS has played a key role in the delivery of the Cumbalum Urban Release Areas (CURA) A, B and C, a significant series of master-planned developments within the Ballina Shire. Collectively, these precincts represent one of the region’s largest urban release areas, supporting substantial residential growth and the creation of new communities through coordinated planning, rezoning, design, and delivery of enabling infrastructure.
CURA A – Banyan Hill
BRS has supported the delivery of a 221-hectare master-planned residential community comprising approximately 750 lots. Designed to balance lifestyle, community, and environmental outcomes, the development features extensive open space, a central Village Green, and a network of shared amenities and active transport links. BRS has provided surveying and certification services at various stages to contribute to the efficient progression of the project through key delivery milestones.
CURA B – Saltwood, Lennox Head
For the CURA B precinct, BRS has delivered a comprehensive suite of services to support the master planning and development of an approximately 2,500-lot residential community at Saltwood, Lennox Head. Our involvement has included master planning, preparation of the rezoning proposal for the village centre, site-specific DCP amendments, and delivery of civil engineering, surveying, and project management services for Stage 1. The project required extensive environmental coordination, including approvals and investigations relating to wetlands, acid sulphate soils, flood modelling, groundwater-dependent ecosystems, ecology and biodiversity, as well as noise and acoustic considerations, ensuring a balanced and compliant development outcome.
CURA C
BRS has provided town planning services to support the proposed rezoning of the CURA C precinct. Our work has focused on facilitating future development potential through strategic planning advice and preparation of planning documentation aligned with Council and State planning frameworks.
