Eastern Creek Quarter (ECQ) is a new retail, lifestyle and entertainment precinct located in a rapidly growing and changing Western Sydney.
Situated on a 15–hectare site within the Western Sydney Parklands, ECQ is a super-neighbourhood centre anchored by a 3,800 sqm Woolworths supermarket and 43 additional specialty retail stores.
The centre features ECQ Social, an Australian-first ‘revolving retail’ concept comprising of a new dining and entertainment precinct. The revolving food tenancies at ECQ Social includes a diverse range of cuisine options run by Western Sydney locals. ECQ Social also provides ample covered and alfresco seating, an outdoor deck, kids play area, and a large outdoor digital screen.
Complementing its Western Sydney Parklands location, ECQ is a global leader in environmental sustainability. The centre includes 1 MW of solar panels, a 200 kL onsite rainwater tank, water management features to help re-use water for irrigation and amenities purposes, bicycle parking facilities, and extensive landscaping and greenery.
Stage 1 of the development opened in June 2020, and Stage 2 is among the projects named by the NSW Government to undergo a fast-tracked assessment planning process as part of the Planning System Acceleration Program.
Barker Ryan Stewart was engaged by Frasers Property as the Principal Certifier for the internal subdivision works and by Western Sydney Parklands as the TfNSW Project Verifier (previously RMS) for the related intersection works on Rooty Hill Road South.
This included the provision of:
- Construction Certificates (now Subdivision Works Certificates)
- Compliance Certificates
- Subdivision Certificates
- TfNSW WAD liaison
- TfNSW design and construction verification
While COVID-19 did delay its opening, ECQ has been a huge success in the weeks since commencing operations, experiencing large numbers of crowds and a score of accolades on social media.
Locals have come to appreciate the quality of the space and amenity it provides and can look forward to more of the same excitement for the future stages of the development.
